Today was the last day of our term for Leadership Connections, and also the last day until the fall. Every term ends with two days for auxiliaries at our co-op. Last week was the Spelling Bee and Poetry Bee. This week we gave out certificates and held our Liberty Bowl. This final term of the year, every level of classes had one class focused on American History. Our Core level class gave us a short presentation today about the states. They were adorable.
Personally, I would never have taught my child this presentation. I would have chosen something else. Not because there is something wrong with it, but because I would never have thought of it. This is one of the amazing benefits of coming together in a co-op and letting my children spend time with other Mentor Moms. Every term, my girls come home with something that I wouldn't have chosen personally, but that they have benefitted from. Every Mentor Mom has her own ideas and her own style. We never really know exactly how a Mom will choose to approach a subject when we ask her to take it on, but I am always amazed. My children have learned so much from these other mentors.
Some things to think about:
How does having a variety of mentors help knowledge grow?
What mentor groups are those you mentor able to access?
What is your unique style as a mentor?
This patriotic cake was brought by one of our Mentor Moms to our last day. |
